Envision Counselling launches new year with fresh mental health programming – DiscoverWeyburn.com

Envision Counselling and Support Centre is starting a new year of programming with one new and one returning group.

Communications specialist with Envision, Raven Daer, says their new Mental Well-Being group is open to everyone over the age of 18, and will explore a range of topics including relationships, self-esteem, parenting, and anxiety and depression.

“With this group, our goal is to create a space where adults can share struggles, feel heard and also support each other. It’s about connection, understanding, and really just encouraging hope in one another. We’re going to focus on fostering peer support, emotional expression, and hope, rather than skill building.”

The group will run for eight weeks on Tuesday nights, beginning on February 3. There will be a pause for February break.

The Women’s Empowerment group will be starting that same week. Daer says it was one of Envisions most attended groups, leading to its return this year.

The group offers a safe and supportive space for women to connect and move from self-doubt to empowerment and advocacy.

“We’re going to explore how to honour your own needs and express your feelings, while also navigating relationships in conflict with greater confidence and courage.” She continues, “we’re going to focus on topics such as self-care, triggers, grounding techniques, boundaries, resilience, communication, as well as just emotional well-being.”

The eight-week program will start on February 5 and be held every Thursday.

Pre-registration is now open for both of these programs and is required as space is limited. Contact [email protected] to reserve a spot.

Daer explains that all of the programming they offer is tailored to the needs they see in the community, whether it be from general feedback, conversations on social media, or surveys.

“We are really excited to be able to offer these programs as they are free, and they’re also another alternative to coming into that counselling session during the day.”

She also highlights some of their regular services, including rapid access counselling and programs for children exposed to violence, interpersonal violence and abuse, and family intervention. More information can be found on the Envision website.

Their second annual Par for a Purpose golf tournament is also upcoming, with a date set for June 7. More information regarding registration, sponsorship, and other ways to get involved will be released as the date approaches.

Their Cash Calendar Fundraiser is going on right now, with tickets for sale until January 31. Each entrant has the chance to win up to 20 times, with a $1,000 grand prize draw on February 27.
