by California-based RegisteredNursing.org as one of the top five Nursing Informatics
programs in the United States, for Registered Nurses seeking necessary training to
pursue specialty or administrative healthcare roles.
An organization of registered nurses focused on training programs that are considered
crucial to modern healthcare processes has included Ferris State University’s Master
of Science degree in Nursing in its 2020 list of the United States’ Best Nursing Informatics
programs.
RegisteredNursing.Org, based in Carlsbad, California, noted that Ferris’ available
concentration in Nursing Informatics is a top-five program, among those Master of
Science and doctoral offerings available to registered nurses who seek research and
administrative roles with health care providers.
The online report highlighted Ferris’ MSN program’s flexibility since students can take between one and four classes at a time, and the diversity
of interaction available to students through the online delivery of instruction.
MSN Program Coordinator Sharon Colley said that the honor from RegisteredNursing.org
is an affirmation that Ferris is achieving its goals of offering an affordable program
of quality, to help nurses to be well-positioned to succeed in specialized duties.
“Our concentration in Nursing Informatics prepares students to take leadership roles
in developing and managing data and technical systems, to ultimately improve the quality
of care provided to patients,” Colley said. “We need nurse informaticists more than
ever in the current healthcare environment, so this ranking recognizes our efforts
to ensure students have an optimal educational experience where they can contribute
in meaningful ways to their workplace environments.”
RegisteredNursing.org based its ranking on factors that include institutional accreditation,
the availability of online learning, the diversity of nursing training available at
the university, as well as the tuition and fees required of those in the degree program.
The release announcing the Nation’s Best Medical Informatics programs also acknowledged
the Nursing Administration and Nursing Education concentrations available through
Ferris’ MSN program.
